Know the cut is locked before you conform
Starting a conform on a picture that moves afterwards is the most expensive mistake in the chain, and it usually announces itself late.
Lock is a state, not a rumour
The board says whether picture is locked, who locked it and when — rather than a message saying it should be by now.
The version you were handed is checked
If a newer cut exists, you are told, and told which one. That is the failure that otherwise reaches nobody.
Credits are frames, not guesses
Credit durations are counted in frames at your show’s real frame rate, so the crawl is timed rather than approximated.
The question that stops
“"Is 1061 actually locked?" — asked after the conform has already started.”
